canooks log # 1

ok, so this is it, my own blog. I am only doing this after reading a friends blog and thinking 'gee, he does a lot of neat stuff'... then i thought that i did too, and at least this way, though no one may read it, i will have a record of it... in fact it does not matter to me if anyone reads it at all.
I am 40yo with 2 daughters (11 and 13) from a previous life (!), a great job, lots of debts, two dogs and a great woman that i am about to marry (none of these in any particular order). Unlike most these days, I do not have 'a passion' for something... it seems that you just have to have one these days in order to be anybody. SORRY- you wont find that here....
I do enjoy lots of things though, top of the list currently is heading out mt biking with friends and dogs, also right up there is a good book (yes, have read the Da Vinci Code, but no, am not drawn into the big conspiracy theory that some are... -its entertainment you guys, geeze...), a good movie (saw 'Mr&Mrs Smith' recently- very funny, and 'Spanglish' which was even better), the tube, the gym, driving etc etc... a typical jack of all trades and master of none... in short NO PASSIONS, SO DONT ASK (other than my darling Kat, of course)!!
i guess what I want to do is write about a few things i have done, particularly since separating and divorcing. in that time i (aside from finding kat) have discovered the joys of singletrack, and to a lesser extent, multisport. Kiwis are mad keen multisporters, and all talk about how great it woud lbe to do the 'coast to coast'... well that might be more a committment than I want, but I have tried a few shorter races (Rodney Coast Challenge (2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, Moehau Man (2003, 2004), matarangi intrigue ((2003, 2004, 2005) and really enjoy it. I guess this blog will sort of be a training diary for me, amongst other things
